DAVIT

An L-shaped member used for support of suspended scaffolds.

The weight of the scaffold structure, including platform and

accessories.

The weight of forms, stringers, joists, reinforcing rods, and the

DEADMAN

A heavy object to which a guyline is attached.

DEALER

A person or entity who buys from a manufacturer or distributor and who generally sells, rents, and services equipment.

DEBRIS (CHUTE)

An enclosed conveyance to direct the flow of waste material to a collection bin below.

A component of a system that allows dissipation of energy by

extending the deceleration distance.

DECK (SCAFFOLD)

A platform unit designed and constructed to carry at least one person.

Scaffold decks are equipped with end hooks that engage the scaffold bearer. They are generally rated for evenly distributed loads.

DECK (SHORING)

A temporary support system consisting of a primary load-gathering

member, joists, and decking material, all fastened together to form a rigid unit intended to be gang-moved.
