LADDER SCAFFOLD

Modular ladder sections fixed inside a scaffold with landings at

required levels.

LADDER STAND

A mobile fixed-size self-supporting ladder consisting of a flat tread ladder

in the form of stairs. The assembly may Include handrails.

LADDER STAND PLATFORM

The uppermost flat surface of a ladder stand.

LAMINATED PLANK

A manufacturered plank, commonly laminated veneer but can also be laminated edge glued.

LANYARD

A component consisting of a flexible line of rope, wire  rope or strap which

generally has a connector at each end for connecting the body support to a fall arrester, energy

absorber, anchorage connector or anchorage.

LAY (SCAFFOLD)

The manner in which the wires in a strand or strands in a rope are

helically wrapped. A complete helical convolution about the rope core.

Ledger

A non-load bearing horizontal scaffold member used to space out the posts (standards, or uprights) on Tube and Clamp or System scaffolds.  Ledgers can support load bearing transoms in some tube and clamp scaffold configurations.

LEDGER (SHORING)

Horizontal structural members which directly support joists.

LEG

The vertical member of a scaffold.

LIFELINE

A flexible line for connection to an anchorage at one end to hang vertically (vertical lifeline), or for connection to anchorage at both ends to stretch horizontally (horizontal lifeline), and which serves as a means for connecting other components of a personal fall arrest system to the anchorage.
